- Qualified and admitted Iraqi Lawyer, studied law in Baghdad and awarded Bachelor degree. Awarded Master of law from London.
- Ex-Legal Advisor to Iraq National Oil Company from establishment in 1964.
- Participated in most of the projects undertaken then. Including oil & gas exploration, drilling, production, transport, refining and marketing. International agreements with American, Brazilian, Bulgarian, French, Spanish and USSR companies relating to construction of refineries, pipelines, ship building and other major infra structure projects. Transborder pipelines network with Saudi Arabia, Syria and Turkey.
- Until 1980 worked as legal adviser to Abu Dhabi National Oil Company in the UAE. Advising on oil and gas offshore and onshore projects, financing agreements, JV, Eurobond issues, taxation, environmental legislation and project privatisation.
- Since 1980 practised as legal consultant in London advising on matters of international law involving GCC and other Arab countries, Cote de Ivoire, Indonesia, Mexico, Nigeria,
- Appeared as expert before the High Court of Justice in England in numerous cases. Participated in institutional and ad-hoc arbitration proceedings
- President of the Arab Lawyers Association (UK), Bureau member of International Association of Democratic Lawyers, member of International Bar Association, Fellow Energy Institute. Editor of the Yearbook of Islamic and Middle Eastern Law
